Getting started

What the first visit involves and what it costs you to find out.

What is the Starting Point Session?+

A complimentary, no-pressure visit: you meet one-on-one with the Director, take an InBody body composition scan, go through a functional movement and injury assessment, talk through your goals, schedule and nutrition, and finish with a coached mini workout so you feel the training rather than just hearing about it. There is no obligation at the end of it.

Do you offer a free trial?+

There is no free trial, but the Starting Point Session is free and it is the real thing: a mini workout, an InBody scan and a mobility assessment. Most people know after that hour whether this is for them.

How do I get started?+

Call or text Coach Nick at 424-722-6127, or book through this site, and we will set you up with a free Starting Point Session.

Do I need to be in shape before I start?+

No. Most members walk in after a long break from training, and we work with everyone from complete beginners to advanced lifters. Your first weeks are built from your movement assessment, at a load that suits you, not from what anyone else in the session is lifting.

Am I too old for this?+

Our members are adults 40 and over, strongest in their 50s and 60s, and we coach members well into their 70s and 80s. This is not a young, high-intensity crowd.

What should I wear and bring?+

Comfortable workout clothes and a water bottle. We provide towels and there is a refillable water station on site.

How training works

What actually happens in the room, and how it is different from a gym.

How is this different from a gym or a group fitness class?+

Everyone in the room is on their own program, designed for them, and a coach is on the floor coaching you as an individual every session. Sessions are capped at six members so that is actually possible. You get real coaching at a fraction of what one-on-one training costs.

What does a typical session look like?+

A five to seven minute dynamic warm-up, then six exercises in supersets set at your ability level, finishing with a cardio or core finisher. Every session is functional full-body strength training.

How long is a session and how often should I train?+

About 60 minutes. Members train anywhere from one to four times a week, and most settle at two or three. We work out the right frequency for you during your Starting Point Session, and sessions roll over so a busy week does not cost you anything.

Do you train people with injuries?+

Yes, and we specialise in it. We work with severe and minor injuries and every kind of physical limitation daily, from post-surgery rehab to long-standing knee, back and shoulder problems. Bring what your doctor or physio has told you and coaches modify every movement to fit your body.

What equipment do you have?+

Dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells, sandbags, slam and medicine balls, bands, cables, a ski attachment, a sled system, a relentless rope and assault bikes.

Do you offer online training?+

Yes. Coach-written online workouts for your off days are included in membership at no extra cost, along with programs built for a hotel gym when you travel.

Is nutrition coaching included?+

Yes. Macros, nutrition guidance and online workouts are all included in your membership. It is practical coaching that survives restaurants, travel and family dinners, not a list of foods you are banned from.

How do you track progress?+

Through the Trainerize app, weekly workout check-ins, and a monthly accountability session that includes an InBody scan and a nutrition review.

The InBody scan

The measurement everything else is built from.

What is an InBody scan and why does it matter?+

It is a quick, non-invasive body composition scan measuring body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, hydration and a segment-by-segment breakdown of your body. It gives your coach a real baseline to program from, and gives you something far more useful than a bathroom scale to track over time.

Does the InBody scan cost extra?+

No. A scan typically runs $80 to $150 elsewhere. Yours is free during the Starting Point Session and stays free for as long as you are a member.

Membership, billing and scheduling

The commitment, the flexibility and the fine print.

How much does membership cost?+

We would rather walk you through the options in person, because the right one depends on how often you train. It is covered properly in your free Starting Point Session, and there is no pressure to decide on the day.

Is there a long term contract?+

No long term contract, and no three-month, six-month or year-long lock-in. All we ask is 30 days' notice from your billing date if you want to stop. Members stay because the coaching keeps working.

Are there cancellation or signup fees?+

Never. No signup fee, no initiation fee and no cancellation fee of any kind.

What payment methods do you accept?+

Card, cash and direct deposit.

Can I pause my membership?+

Yes. Pause before your billing date and your sessions are subtracted, or they roll over to the next month. You never lose sessions.

What if I travel or miss sessions?+

Sessions always roll over. You will never lose a session to travel or a scheduling conflict, and we can write you a travel program for a hotel gym so momentum survives the trip.

How flexible is the schedule?+

Very. You can move sessions day to day as long as there is availability, and cancel same-day up to an hour before. We just ask that you do not no-show.

Can I bring a family member or friend?+

Yes. Family members complete their own Starting Point Session and sign a waiver, and spouse discounts are available. Friends can join a session when there is space, since we cap every session at six.

Do you offer corporate rates?+

Yes. Corporate and group rates are available depending on the size of the group.

The studio

Where we are, when we are open, and what the room is like.

Where are you located?+

11668 W Olympic Blvd, Units 102/103, Los Angeles, CA 90064. Easily reached from West LA, Santa Monica, Culver City and Brentwood.

Is there parking?+

Yes. There is on-site parking right at the studio plus a 100-space parking garage. No meters, no circling the block, no street parking to worry about.

What are your hours?+

Morning, midday and evening sessions Monday through Thursday. Friday runs morning and midday, and Saturday runs morning and late morning. Current session times are on the sessions page.

What does the facility look like?+

About 2,300 square feet, brand new, and kept genuinely clean. There is plenty of room and enough equipment that nobody is waiting on a rack.

Do you have showers?+

No showers, but there is a private changing room and a bathroom on site.

Is the gym co-ed?+

Yes, co-ed and welcoming to everyone.

The coaches and the community

Who you train with, and who you train alongside.

Who are the coaches?+

Coach Nick, our Director of Training, leads the team and holds personal training, strength, bodybuilding and progression/regression certifications plus a nutrition license. The wider coaching team is certified and experienced, with backgrounds in strength training, kinesiology and nutrition.

Are members social?+

Very. Six people at the same session time week after week turns into real friendships, and members notice when you miss a Tuesday. It turns out to be the most effective piece of programming we have.

Do you host events?+

Yes. We run member events, challenges and community activities monthly, quarterly and annually.

Do you have success stories?+

Yes. Several members have shared their before-and-after stories along with their InBody numbers, and there are more on the walls of the studio than we have put online. Ask a coach and we will happily share them.

Where can I learn more?+
